Thunder rumbles as dark storms gather over the writhing jungle. Mighty trees sway and groan as howling winds lash their branches. Animals shriek and scatter before the raging tempest. Mother Earth wails in anguish, her voice a banshee's scream.
I stand helpless, watching the destruction unfold. The jungle that was my cherished home laid to waste. Lush greenery replaced by decaying stumps, blackened earth, rivers running foul. Smog-veiled sunsets where rainbows once arched across the sky.
In my mind's eye I still see the jungle's former glory. Sunbeams dancing on leafy boughs as macaws fluttered past. The gentle whisper of butterfly wings. Clear waters teeming with dazzling fish. Nights filled with cricket song and firefly light.
That splendor is no more. Man's greed has corrupted Eden. Megacities metastasize across once-virgin lands. Factories spew poison clouds that choke the life from the air. Consumerism's plastic tentacles tighten their stranglehold.
Have we fallen so far that dollar signs eclipse the value of unspoiled rivers, thriving woodlands, pure skies? Shall we barter away Nature herself in exchange for bigger cars, flashier toys, trivial distractions?
Now is the hour of reckoning. The skies rage and oceans boil in protest. Mother Earth demands we change course. Forsake materialism's shallow pursuits. Reject excessive waste and overindulgence. Live simply, cleanly, so that balance may be restored.
The time to act is now, before the last tree falls and the final bird goes silent. Heed the jungle's cry before it's too late. Our children's future hangs in the balance.
